What is green tea?


Green tea in Kenya is currently a big deal, but what exactly is green tea?

This tea originates from China and India, for the longest time, it has been taken for its health benefits. All teas are made from dried leaves of Camellia bush and that’s what gives each tea its color.

Green tea, however, is made from unoxidized leaves which is less processed thus has more antioxidants and it gives it the green color.

So why exactly are people crazy about consuming the tea?

Green tea has countless health and beauty benefits as it is loaded with antioxidants and nutrients that improve fat loss, increase brain function and lower risks of getting cancer. See below all health and beauty benefits of taking green tea

1. Improves Health

Green Tea contains a lot of compounds and nutrients that contribute to the well-being of the body. The tea is rich in polyphenols that reduce inflammation and help in fighting cancer such as breast cancer and prostate cancer.

Studies have also shown that the tea also lowers the risk for type 2 diabetes by reducing blood sugar levels.

The tea increases metabolism rate which could reduce weight, it also decreases body fats especially in the abdomen thus lowering the risk of obesity. One should however not neglect taking the right diet and working out.

The Catechins in green tea are believed to kill bacteria and inhibit viruses like influenza lowering infection risks. The compounds are also believed to reduce bad breath, cavities and tooth decay.

How to Prepare Green Tea

How you prepare your tea has a significant effect on whether it gives you the right levels of antioxidant.

The correct way to make your cup of this tea is to let boiling water cool before pouring it on the tea leaves, then allow it steep for 2 to three minutes.  You can add a sweetener of your choice.

There you have it, this magic tea can help you live longer, given the health benefits like reducing body fats, lowering risk of cardiovascular disease, it basically improves your quality of life.
