In the spirit of giving back, Jumia Kenya has generously donated Ksh. 1 Million in cash and in kind to the Good Samaritan Children’s Home in Nairobi’s Mathare slums.
Making the presentation, the Communications manager for Jumia Kenya, Robinson Murage, said the company is committed to give back to the community and put a smile on the faces of the less fortunate.
“We are committed to help improve the livelihoods of the less fortunate members of the community in which we operate. We hope this donation will go a long way to the cause.”
The Jumia team also thanked their customers across the country for making such donations possible, “We have donated over 5 million to date to different homes across Kenya, this wouldn’t have been possible without the trust of our customers. Thank you for making it possible,” added Murage.
Receiving the items, the mistress of the home, Mugeshi Mburu thanked the company for the kind gesture and said the support would go a long way to support the upkeep of the children.
“This home survives on the goodwill and support of good samaritans like you. Today’s donation will go a long way in ensuring the children have the best Christmas and Happy new year season ever. God bless you.”
About Good Samaritan Children’s Home
Is a home situated in Mathare Valley near the Kosovo slum. It provides shelter to victims of teenage pregnancy, orphans, family breakdown and separation of spouses leading to abandonment of children and possible child abuse.
The Good Samaritan mobilizes the community to try and address these problems affecting especially the children in Mathare slum. The home offers shelter, food education, and clothing to these vulnerable children irrespective of age, race, gender, and religious belief. At the moment, it houses closes to 600 people from newborns to young adults.
