Mara organics Indigo powder is made from the dried leaves of the indigo plant. It gives a blueish tint on light colored hair.
Indigo used in Conjunction with HENNA
When indigo powder is mixed together with henna powder or used after coloring with henna. it results in red/brown, brown or black shades. The resulting color depends on the method, the proportion of henna and indigo used and the length of time is it left on your hair.
What color tones will you achieve?
Preparing the henna paste for shoulder length hair use more for longer hair.

Henna paste
Mix with 100g of Mara organics Henna Powder 300-330ml of lemon juice into the consistency of yoghurt.
Cover the paste and leave to soak for 8 to 24 hours.
Apply to freshly shampooed hair generously covering all hair strands.
Cover with a shampoo cap and leave for 3 hours.
Rinse it then mix your indigo paste.
Indigo paste
Mix 100g of Mara organics Indigo Powder with 300-330ml warm WATER into the consistency of yoghurt.
Once mixed, the paste should be applied to DRY hair IMMEDIATELY.
The true color takes a few days to show The color may seem bright, brassy and coppery at first but this will deepen over the next 3 or 4 days. This is because it takes a few days for the oxidation process to take place.
2.Directions for one step process
Mix henna with lemon juice and let it sit for at least 8 hours.
When you are ready to dye your hair mix the indigo with warm water.
Mix the henna mixture together with the indigo mixture. To get a more brown shade use a larger percentage of henna. To get a darker brown use a larger proportion of indigo. This method is quicker than the Method 1. To get a black shade use method
Apply on freshly shampooed dry hair.
Everyone’s hair is different and will take the color differently so to some extent trial and error is necessary to get the desired shade.
The first method, which which gives a stronger result, is to dye your hair first with henna, wash and dry your hair, and then apply the indigo mixture.

This is not indigo powder. Indigo powder is green before water is added and it's left to sit. This was black and did not dye my hair at all the henna red remained on my hair as if I hadn't applied anything. Save your money folks don't buy this product. I've used indigo powder before and this wasn't it. Shame on you.
