Aluminum hawse fairlead is specifically designed for use with Synthetic winch ropes in order to allow the rope to run smoothly through the rounded, smooth edge on the front.
This will prevent the synthetic rope from binding up in the standard cable style roller fairlead, as you run the risk of fraying that expensive synthetic winch rope, and causing unrepairable damage, which could lead to it snapping, while winching in your rig, or somebody elses, and causing a major safety issue.
