Fast evaporation / quick drying so that the cleaned surfaces can be energized shortly after use without waiting too long.

Residue‑free formula: Leaves minimal or no film or trace to avoid interfering with electrical conductivity.

Degreasing & solvent action: Dissolves oils, greases, flux, salts, soldering residues, and other nonconductive contaminants.

Safe for metals and many plastics / rubbers: Designed to be compatible with typical materials used in electronics (though always check compatibility).

Strong cleaning / oxidation removal: Helps remove oxidation and corrosion that increases contact resistance.

Penetrating ability: Able to reach into tight gaps, crevices, and around terminals / pins.

Non‑lubricating (in many variants): Many contact cleaners do not add lubrication, since that could impair contact surfaces. Some variants may contain light lubricants for mechanical parts (but those are specific types).
