It also helps to relieve the redness and discomfort of occasional cold sores on the lips. If your lips are suffering, apply every hour to rapidly relieve any discomfort. Your lips are more sensitive during extreme weather conditions, so you may need a little more care than normal to quickly relieve symptoms. Possible side effects - Blistex may cause irritation or swelling of the lips, or an allergic reaction such as skin rash, redness or itching.
