Doesn't get as dark as it is shown on the illustration in sunlight. Blue light filtering seems to work though, as blue light bounces off it giving it a bluish tint from the opposite direction, brownish tint when looking through it. The frame is mostly plastic with metallic hinges and screws. The lens don't look easily scratch-able, although I don't want to test the limit.
