Faulty on charging

I bought this item and it was fully charged up to 100%. I have used it without issues until it ran out of power. When I charged it, it produced smoke (spark) and died. When I contacted Jumia, they said it past their return time policy? Well, this is not a tissue paper but a long term use item that should have say, 6-months or 1-year return policy/guarantee
