This is a Weaving Crotchet Hook, or Latch Hook or Weaving Hook Needle used on crotchet braids which are synthetic hair extensions for weaving or braiding onto the natural hair; e.g. jumbo hair braids, etc. Basically, the natural hair can be twisted or braided, but it's most commonly styled into cornrows before affixing the synthetic hair. Though crotcheting does not damage your hair; it's good to make sure your hair is healthy before it's braided down.
