Cetrimonium Chloride is used as a topical antiseptic and a preservative due to its ability to inhibit the growth of microorganisms. It is used as a surfactant (for cleansing and emulsifying) and a suspending agent.
Cetrimonium chloride belongs to a family of molecules known as cationic surfactants. In dry shampoo, it's used to banish hair static and smooth down the cuticle.
Cetrimonium chloride smoothens the hair cuticles by softening them, allowing them to be easily detangled and leaving a silky ouch. As a surfactant, it helps ensure that the oil and water in the conditioner work well together, which is necessary for cleansing and conditioning the hair
Cetrimonium Chloride can be natural or synthetic depending on the way that it is made. Naturally, it is derived from vegetable oils. Cetrimonium Chloride is basically a quaternary ammonium compound that acts well as a preservative. It can appear in the form of a yellowish liquid or a waxy solid
