Lactic acid is specifically used to treat hyperpigmentation, age spots, and other factors that contribute to a dull and uneven complexion. 
 

Other benefits of AHAs like lactic acid include improved skin tone and reduced pore appearance. However, unlike AHAs such as glycolic acid, lactic acid is a bit milder.Lactic acid is commonly found in lotions and creams that are formulated to help improve rough and bumpy skin due to its gentle yet effective exfoliating effect.

In general, weaker strength lactic acids can be used daily, while higher strength lactic acids should be limited to two or three times per week as tolerated. If your skin is getting too irritated, red, and dry, it is important to take a break for a few days to allow your skin to recover.

General Cautions:

Never use manual exfoliators nor scrubbing brushes within 24 hours of using a peel.

Stop Retin A, benzoyl peroxides, acne products and any other drying agents 24 hours before and after using an alpha hydroxy or beta hydroxy peel.

Never apply a peel without doing a patch-test first and waiting 48 hours for results.

Never apply a chemical peel to inflamed skin.

Always read product directions in their entirety and don't take shortcuts.
