Wide, ergonomic seat/platform: The core of a hip-seat carrier is the “seat” your baby sits on — it’s wide and often slightly angled, giving the baby a stable base and helping support their thighs rather than having legs dangle. 

Weight distribution to hips/waist: Rather than bearing most of the child’s weight in your arms and shoulders, the hip-seat design shifts much of that to your hips/waist, which often makes carrying for longer easier and more comfortable.
