Classic Combination Sharpening Stones are ideal for a variety of applications including: sharpening carpentry tools, garden equipment and kitchen utensils. Constructed of aluminum oxide for its excellent abrasive properties for sharpening and honing metal blades, these stones feature a coarse 120 grit on one side and a fine 240 grit on the other. The 120 grit side is intended to quickly removes material and nicks from the blade while the 240 grit side is intended to refine the blade’s edge. This stone can be used in wet or dry applications. In wet applications, oil or water may be used as a lubricant. Once you have used oil on your aluminum oxide stone, you cannot use water. Though you may use either oil or water as a lubricant, these cannot be alternated using the same sharpening stone.
