Contact adhesive (sometimes called contact cement) in a 250 ml container is a solvent‑based adhesive designed to bond two surfaces by applying adhesive to both surfaces, allowing them to become tacky, and then pressing them together. Its name “contact” comes from the fact that once both coated surfaces touch, they bond instantly (or after a brief “open time”).
In the 250 ml format, it’s typically packaged in a small can or tube suitable for household, carpentry, upholstery, and craft use.
Fast initial tack / instant bonding: Works immediately upon contact when surfaces are tacky.
Universal material compatibility: Bonds a wide variety of substrates — wood, laminates, rubber, leather, foam, plastics (some), metal, veneers, fabric, etc.
Heat & water resistance: Good formulations can resist moderate heat and moisture after curing.
Solvent‑based / rubber / polychloroprene (neoprene) type: Many contact adhesives are rubber‑based (neoprene), giving elasticity and strong adhesion.
Brushability / spreadability: The adhesive can be applied with brush or spreader; some are formulated for ease of use.
“Long green time”: Some products maintain tackiness for a while before bonding, allowing repositioning until contact.
Not suitable for certain plastics / foams: It may not bond well to low‑surface‑energy materials like PE, PP, PTFE, expanded polystyrene.
