A float switch is a device that operates mechanically by floating on the surface of a liquid. As the liquid level changes, the float rises or falls accordingly. Based on a predetermined trigger point and counterweight, the switch either opens or closes, controlling the flow of electricity to a connected device, typically to start or stop the liquid inflow. The switch consists of a buoyant hollow body and an internal component, often a reed switch, which is activated by a magnet inside the float.
