This is a heavy-duty voltage protection device designed specifically for appliances with compressors, such as refrigerators, deep freezers, and water coolers.
Unlike standard surge protectors, this device is engineered to handle under-voltage (brownouts), which are the leading cause of motor failure in refrigeration units.
Current Rating: 13 Amps (suitable for almost all domestic and commercial fridges).
Operating Voltage: 220V – 240V AC.
Low Voltage Disconnect: Typically cuts power if the voltage drops below 180V to prevent the motor from stalling and burning out.
High Voltage Disconnect: Typically cuts power if the voltage exceeds 260V.
Response Time: Responds to spikes and fluctuations in less than 10 nanoseconds.
The most critical feature of this guard is the Startup Delay (usually 3 to 5 minutes).
Why it's there: When power is cut, the refrigerant gas in a compressor is at high pressure. If the power returns immediately, the motor may struggle to start against that pressure, leading to a "locked rotor" and permanent damage.
What it does: The guard forces the fridge to stay off for several minutes after power is restored, allowing the gas pressures to equalize so the motor can start safely.
Wait (Amber/Red): Power has just returned or is unstable. The guard is "counting down" the 3-minute safety delay.
Safe/On (Green): Voltage is stable and power is being supplied to the fridge.
Off (Red): The incoming voltage is currently too high or too low for safe operation.
