Himalayan Salt

Pink Himalayan salt is a type of rock salt found in Pakistan's Punjab region, near the Himalayan foothills.

This salt, like regular table salt, is used in the same ways as regular table salt: in cooking, to season meals, and to preserve food.

Because the crystals in pink salt are larger than those in table salt, it contains less sodium per teaspoon. It also has a saltier flavor than table salt, so less salt can be used in a serving to achieve the same flavor.

To prevent clumping, table salt is typically highly refined and mixed with anti-caking agents such as sodium aluminosilicate or magnesium carbonate. Himalayan salt is less refined and typically does not contain additives.

A pinch of pink salt added to meals or drinks is thought to help the body achieve optimal fluid balance and prevent dehydration.
