Split rivets (also called bifurcated rivets) are simple mechanical fasteners used to join thin or soft materials.
Made from soft metal (brass, aluminum, steel).
Have a solid head on one end and two split legs on the other.
The legs are pushed through aligned holes and then spread apart to lock the materials together.
How they work (step-by-step)
Insert the split rivet through the holes.
The two legs protrude on the far side.
Bend the legs outward (usually with pliers or a screwdriver).
The bent legs clamp the layers together.
