Two‑Part System

Consists of a resin and a hardener (mixed in a precise ratio).

Curing occurs chemically rather than by moisture or heat alone.

Steel / Metal Fillers

Contains fine steel or metal particles to give the cured epoxy a metallic, rigid character.

Enhances strength, hardness, and wear resistance.

High Mechanical Strength

Good compressive strength, shear strength, and tensile strength (once fully cured).

Ability to withstand mechanical loads, vibration, and stress.

Gap Filling Capability

Can fill voids, cracks, seams, and irregular surfaces between metal parts.

Rapid Cure / Short Pot Life

Some steel epoxies are fast‑setting (e.g. “4‑minute” epoxies) to allow for quick repairs.

Pot life (usable working time) may be limited (a few minutes) depending on formulation.

After cure, the epoxy can often be drilled, sanded, filed, tapped, ground, painted, or machined like metal.

Dimensional Stability & Low Shrinkage

Does not shrink significantly during cure, preserving alignment of parts.

Chemical / Environmental Resistance

Good resistance to water, oils, solvents, chemicals, and moderate temperatures.

Maintains performance in harsh environments.

Temperature Tolerance

Can tolerate moderate heat, often up to a certain temperature (varies with product).
