Greenlife OCCASION STAR 200SC INSECTICIDE

Occasion Star® 200SC is a broad spectrum, systemic with contact and stomach action insecticide for control of thrips, caterpillars and spider mites, diamondback moth, and fall armyworm. Indoxacarb (Oxadiazine insecticide group) acts by blocking the nerve sodium channels in the nervous system of the insect. Emamectin benzoate (Avermectin insecticide group) acts by interfering with neurotransmitters of the target pest, which results in disruption of nerve impulses.Apply as first signs of infestation or egg hatch peak period before 3rd instar larvae as a full cover spray and repeat maximum 2 applications at 10 days interval per season, on a regular scouting for successful control. 

Overview

Occasion Star® 200SC is a broad-spectrum insecticide produced by Greenlife Crop Protection Africa. It is designed to control a wide range of chewing insects, such as caterpillars, leaf miners, bollworms, fall armyworms, false codling moths, webworms, budworms, leafworms, thrips, and spider mites. This insecticide is suitable for use on various crops, including cereals, vegetables, and ornamentals.

Composition and Mode of Action

Occasion Star® 200SC contains two active ingredients:

Emamectin benzoate (40 g/L): A non-systemic insecticide derived from a naturally occurring soil bacterium, Streptomyces avermitilis. It acts by causing insect paralysis through suppressing muscle contraction and stopping feeding. It functions as a chloride channel activator and exhibits a translaminar effect.

Indoxacarb (160 g/L): An oxadiazine insecticide that acts as a voltage-dependent sodium channel blocker. It inhibits the flow of sodium ions into nerve cells, leading to impaired nerve function, inability to feed, paralysis, and eventually death, although it may take days for insects to die.

Applications

Occasion Star® 200SC is used to control various pests on different crops:

Cereals (Maize, Sorghum, Wheat, Rice, Barley): Effective against fall armyworm (FAW).

Leaf Vegetables (Broccoli, Cabbage, Kales, Spinach, Lettuce): Controls chewing insects such as caterpillars, leaf miners, beetles, bollworms, webworms, budworms, and leafworms.

Fruit Vegetables (Tomato, Capsicum, Eggplant): Targets pests like caterpillars and thrips.

Root/Tuber Vegetables (Potato): Effective against chewing insects.

Legumes (French beans, Dry beans, Peas): Controls caterpillars, spider mites, and thrips.

Ornamentals (Roses): Effective against bollworms, caterpillars, thrips, and spider mites.

Usage Instructions

Application Rate: 100-125ml per hectare in 1000 liters of water (2.5-3ml per 20 liters of water).

Application Timing: Apply at the first signs of infestation or egg hatch peak period before the 3rd instar larvae. Repeat maximum 2 applications at a 10-day interval per season.

Preparation of Spray Mixture: Fill the spray tank with half the required amount of water. Add the required amount of Occasion Star® 200SC and fill the water to the required level. Agitate to ensure thorough mixing. Use the spray mixture on the same day of preparation.

Precautions

Re-Entry Interval: Do not enter treated areas during the restricted-entry interval of 12 hours. If entry is necessary, appropriate protective clothing should be worn.

Compatibility: Occasion Star® 200SC is compatible with most commonly used pesticides and liquid fertilizers. However, a compatibility test is advisable before mixing commercial quantities or spraying a large area.

Phytotoxicity: When used as recommended, Occasion Star® 200SC is not phytotoxic.
