Ginger essential oil, made from the root of the ginger plant, gives off a comforting, warm and spicy aroma. It is a wonderful oil to inhale when you are feeling emotionally drained as the scent is mentally energizing and uplifting.
Ginger oil contains active compounds known as gingerol and zingibain that give ginger its warming, anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving and anti-spasmodic properties. It is a popular oil amongst Aromatherapists for treating poor circulation, nausea, digestive symptoms, food poisoning, headaches, and sore muscles and joints.
It is also a natural expectorant and decongestant which, when inhaled, may help to clear the symptoms of colds, flu, coughs, allergies and bronchitis.
