Sage essential oil is extracted by steam distilling the leaves and flowers of the common sage plant, also known as Dalmatian sage. It has a fresh, sweet and herbal scent which may boost mental alertness and reduce feelings of fatigue and depression when used aromatically.
Sage oil contains beneficial compounds like camphor, camphene, 1,8-cineole and limonene, which are responsible for its powerful anti-microbial, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, and pain-relieving properties.
It can fight inflammation, oxidative stress, and infections in the body. This may be useful for relieving joint and muscle pain, menstrual cramps, respiratory problems, and digestive symptoms. Sage oil can be used topically to reduce signs of aging, treat cuts and wounds, and manage eczema, acne, dermatitis, fungal infections, and other skin conditions.
Directions for use
Add 2-3 drops of sage oil to your food for extra flavor, or drink 1 drop in a glass of water. For topical use, combine 2-3 drops of sage oil with a carrier oil to make a soothing massage oil. Add 3-4 drops to a warm bath to relax the body and mind.
Add 2-3 drops of sage oil to an oil burner or diffuser to inhale the aroma and boost mood and mental focus. Sage oil combines well with the scents of lavender, bergamot, mint, and grapefruit oil.
