JUCA Sodium Benzoate

Sodium benzoate is a commonly used preservative in food, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals. It's the sodium salt of benzoic acid and is effective in preventing the growth of bacteria, yeast, and mold. Cosmetics and Pharmaceuticals: It acts as a preservative in various cosmetic products like moisturizers, serums, and sunscreens, as well as in some medications. 

Antimicrobial Properties: It inhibits the growth of microorganisms, helping to prevent spoilage and extend product shelf life. 

Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS): The FDA has designated sodium benzoate as GRAS at certain levels. Medications:

Sodium benzoate can be used as a preservative in liquid medicines, and in certain cases, larger doses may be prescribed to treat high ammonia levels in the blood. 

Cosmetics and personal care:

It's used in products like hair products, baby wipes, toothpaste, and mouthwash as a preservative. 

Industrial applications:

Sodium benzoate helps prevent corrosion, such as in coolants for car engines. 

Other uses:

It's also used in fireworks as a fuel in whistle mix, and as an ingredient in some types of pet food, although only in small doses.
