When choosing a new violin for a young musician, sizing can be roughly worked out by age, full size violins are generally ideal for players over the age of 11. For a more accurate measurement stand with your arm out straight and measure the distance between your neck and wrist. The ideal length for a full size violin is at least 58cm.
