Eucalyptus essential oil for skin and hair helps to improve respiratory issues such as sinusitis, bronchitis and allergies. It has the ability to reduce congestion and improve mental clarity as well. Eucalyptus contains a number of important properties, including antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and antispasmodic, and serves as a decongestant.
Hair benefits of this essential oil include: eliminating dandruff, treating head lice and piedra a fungal infection that affects the scalp and stimulating hair growth.
Hair Use
Eucalyptus Oil should always be mixed with appropriate carrier oil, like coconut oil or almond oil, before applying on hair. The dilution ratio should be 1-2%, which is 2 drops of essential oil or less per teaspoon of carrier oil. Massage gently on the scalp and roots and then move towards the tip of the hair. Use a comb to spread the oil evenly on your head. Let it remain for 30 minutes. Wash off with shampoo and condition your hair. This should be repeated twice a week for healthy and shiny hair
Skin Use
Mix it with any carrier oil such as coconut or jojoba before applying on hair and skin. Massage gently. Do not apply directly on hair or skin. You can add a few drops to a hot bath. The steam and the aroma will relax the mind and body. As eucalyptus oil isn’t water soluble, mix it with half teaspoon bath salt of choice before adding it to water. Can also use with a diffuser.
Caution
Eucalyptus Oil should always be mixed with a carrier oil like coconut oil, jojoba oil, sweet almond oil or olive oil. Eucalyptus Oil or any other essential oil should be used in limited quantities and is not meant for ingestion.
