How to Use:
Note: This tool is not to be used to break rivet style chain links.
Step 1: Disassembly
Remove the master link clip using suitable tool and insert the chain into the "Press Off" side of the tool as shown in Fig.1.
Using a 6mm hex wrench press the link apart by turning both screws approximately 1/2 turn at a time. Alternate from one screw to the other and take care to do this as evenly as possible, this will keep the master link from blinding. If extra leverage is needed you can insert a 10mm hex wrench into the hex feature in the body as shown in Fig.2.
Step 2: Assembly
Clean all of the parts and lube the master link pins with chain lube or high quality grease and assemble the master link into the chain. If you are using an O-ring chain make sure to clean and lube the o-rings as well. Press the master link plate onto the master link with your fingers as shown in Fig.3, and insert the chain into the "Press On" side of the tool as shown in Fig.4.
Step 3: Assembly Continued
Using a 6mm hex wrench seat the master link plate onto the master link by turning the screws 1/2 turn at a time taking care to keep the plate as even as possible as shown in Fig.5. The plate should only be pressed on just enough to get the clip on as shown in Fig.6.
Warning: Do not overtighten! Overtightening the master link plate can damage the o-rings and cause the chain to bind and cause chain failure. Chain failure can result in great bodily injury or death.
Step 4: Assembly
Replace master link clip, make sure it is in the correct orientation. The closed end of the clip should be facing the direction the chain rotates when moving forward as shown in Fig.7.
Warning: This tool should only be used by someone who is trained in servicing motorcycle chains and sprockets. Failure to use this tool correctly could result in great bodily injury or death.
