This particular unit is the 2.5-inch form factor, which allows one to upgrade even much, much older laptops (as long as they have a SATA connection, as this product is backward compatible), thus providing you significant savings (i.e., in most cases, you do not need to buy a brand-new laptop/desktop computer).

I have been using these SSDs (and previous EVOs) for the last seven years and have never had any issues with them (they are all still working, so this is an immensely reliable product).

In addition, do not forget to download and install the latest firmware for this SSD, activate the SSD (Samsung's systems will confirm that this is a genuine product, its serial number, its capacity and so on); once you are all set, you have the option to also activate advanced features, such as the so-called RAPID mode (this has some minimum system requirements, such as a minimum physical RAM, where 4GB is highly recommended; it will work even better with 8GB; if your system has less than 4GB of RAM, it's better to either not use the RAPID mode, or to first try to upgrade your RAM (to the maximum your motherboard can support) if possible.
