PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Often described as being “stately” when in bloom, Foxgloves produce enormous spires of large, dangling bells. Plants form a low rosette of coarse, hairy leaves in the first year, bursting into flower the second spring, then setting seed and usually dying. This compact selection produces flowers in a range of soft pastel shades, from cream to pink and rose. These perform best in a rich, moist soil. Allow plants to form seed, and they will often self-sow to produce future generations. New plants that form can be easily moved in their first season, while still small. CAUTION: Toxic if eaten.
Foxglove Foxy Alpha Mix is a modern digitalis variety of foxglove specifically bred to produce spectacularly bright and long lasting flower spikes. The flowers of this premium variety are in spectacular shades of red, pink, purple, yellow and white with the classic speckled throats on the flowers. Foxglove Foxy Alpha Mix is a semi-dwarf variety which means that it will grow to about 1m to the top of the flower spikes, but will not grow much larger like many of the traditional species varieties commonly grown in cottage gardens. Foxglove Foxy Alpha Mix is a semi-hardy perennial which means provided it can be kept sheltered away from frosts during winter, it will generally come back the second year (as a biennial) in Spring and produce an even more spectacular crop of flowers through to early summer. Foxglove Foxy Alpha Mix is one of the most popular of all the foxglove varieties as it is a very strong garden performer, flowers extremely heavily, requires very little maintenance and is very resilient towards many common pests and diseases. Like all foxglove varieties, Foxglove Foxy Alpha Mix is poisonous and should not be planted in areas where children of animals are likely to attempt to consume any part of the plant and or its flowers.
