How to Use Booster Cables:

1. Park Safely: Park both vehicles in a safe location, away from traffic and potential hazards. Engage the parking brake on both vehicles.
2. Prepare the Cables: Identify the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals on both batteries. Ensure the booster cables are in good condition, free of damage, and have clean clamps.
3. Connect the Cables:
   • Positive to Positive: Connect one red clamp to the positive (+) terminal of the dead battery.
   • Positive to Positive: Connect the other red clamp to the positive (+) terminal of the working battery.
   • Negative to Ground: Connect one black clamp to the negative (-) terminal of the working battery.
   • Negative to Ground: Connect the other black clamp to a solid metal part of the dead vehicle, away from the battery and fuel lines. This is often a metal bracket or engine block.
4. Start the Working Vehicle: Start the working vehicle and let it run for a few minutes to charge the dead battery.
5. Start the Dead Vehicle: Attempt to start the dead vehicle. If it doesn’t start immediately, try again after a few more minutes of charging.
6. Disconnect Safely: Once the dead vehicle starts, disconnect the cables in reverse order:
   • Remove the black clamp from the dead vehicle.
   • Remove the black clamp from the working vehicle.
   • Remove the red clamp from the working vehicle.
   • Remove the red clamp from the dead vehicle.

Important Safety Tips:

• Avoid Sparks: Never allow the clamps to touch each other or any metal parts while connecting or disconnecting the cables. Sparks can ignite flammable fumes.
• Ventilation: Ensure proper ventilation when working near the battery.
• Eye Protection: Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes from potential battery acid splashes.
• Battery Acid: If battery acid comes into contact with your skin or eyes, flush the affected area with plenty of water and seek medical attention immediately.
• Cable Quality: Use high-quality booster cables rated for the appropriate amperage to avoid overheating and potential damage.
