ACNESOL 0.05% W/W CREAM
COMPOSITION:Acnesol contais Tretinoin B.P 0.05% w/w as the active ingredient.
PHARMACOLOGY:Tretinoin stimulates mitotic activity and increased turnover of follicular epithelial cells causing extrusion of comedos. It also reduces hperkeratinization that leads to microcomedo formation which is the initial lesion in acne. In dermis blood vessel, vasodilation and angiogenesis and increased papillary dermal collagen synthesis lead to lessening of fine and course wrinkling smoother texture decrease in hyperpigmentation.
PHARMACOKINETICS:Tretinoin is highly bound to plasma roteins and undergoes metabolism in the liver. It’s excreted in the bile and urine.
INDICATION:Acnesol is used for the treatment of the following
AcnePhotodamaged skinHyperpigmentationADVERSE EFFECTSTretinoin is a skin irritant and may cause peeling similar to that of sunburn. Sensitive inviduals may experience oedema, buscemia and crusting of the skin.
DIRECTIONS:– Apply gently on the affected areas 1-2 times a day or as directed by a physician.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:Tretinoin is teratogenic and is contraindicated in pregnancy, breastfeeding mothers, on eczematous sunburn or branded skin.Do not apply it with other topical treatment e.g. skin moisturizers
DRUG INTERACTION:Interacts with Tetracyclines and Carbamazepine
PRESENTATION:Available in 25g collapsible Aluminium tubes packed in unit boxes.
STORAGE:Do not store above 30°C. Store in a dry place. Keep tightly closed. Protect from direct sunlight. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
