During the wedding ceremony rigged by Olaf, Violet cleverly uses her non-dominant hand to sign the marriage paper, making it invalid. Olaf's plan is foiled temporarily, but he escapes, warning the Baudelaires that he will continue to pursue them to get their fortune. The children are left to face an uncertain, dangerous future while staying united in their fight against Olaf.
