Activated black charcoal powder is made from peat,coal,wood and coconut shell. It is made by heating charcoal in presence of a gas. This process of heating makes the charcoal powder develop a lot of internal pores.NB - Activated charcoal powder is not the same as normal charcoal powder dust.
Native names"Mkaa ulioamilishwa" - Swahili."Activated charcoal powder" - English.
Activated charcoal powders uses

It is used to treat poisoning and overdoses following oral ingestion.
It is used to treat diarrhea and indigestion.
Activated black charcoal is used to brush teeth.
It assists the kidney in filtering out undigested toxins and drugs.
It is used in water filtration.
It is used to clean wounds by absorbing harmful microbes.

Precautions

You may notice black stool after consuming black charcoal.
Consult with your healthcare profession before consuming black charcoal powder incase you have gastrointestinal blockage.
Black charcoal powder should not be consumed by children under the age of 10 years.

Key Features

For ingestion, add one teaspoon of black charcoal powder in a 300ml glass of hot water. Sieve the mixture and drink it while still warm.
For brushing teeth,dip a wet toothbrush in black charcoal powder and brush using it.
For water filtration, boil the charcoal powder in water for ten minutes before use. Then fill your boiled water in a bottle or jerrycan and wait for the charcoal to filter the impurities from the water overnight. Sieve the mixture. (The mixing ratio should be 1 tablespoon of black charcoal powder per 2 litres of clean water)
For cleaning wounds, pour the black charcoal powder directly on an open wound and bandage the wound. Change the bandage after 12 hours and bandage the wound with a clean bandage without black charcoal powder
Black charcoal powder should not be consumed by children under the age of 10 years.
