Tube ripple mattress

Ripple mattress tube or pressure mattress is designed to increase comfort for an individual suffering from pressure sores

the mattress provides high levels of support for the head and body to relieve any mounting stress on pressure points

They differ from other mattress as they have air pockets specifically designed to place less pressure

on the main pressure point in the body

Pressure sores occur when an individual spends prolonged periods of time in the same position.

It is crucial to get the right type of pressure mattress for the right grade of bed sores

in order to maximize patient comfort

Pressure sores are areas of skin that have been subjected to sustained amount of pressure

resulting n the skin and tissue becoming damage

This constant pressure on a vulnerable part of the body such as pelvis or elbows results in the circulation being cut off and decay of area

The Four Main Grades

Grade 1: Reddening of the skin

Grade 2: Superficial “blister” like wound

Grade 3:

There are two types of alternating pressure ripple mattresses,

which are the bubble type mattress which is more suitable for individuals with low risk of bedsores or with stage  1 bedsores.

The tube-type ripple mattress is more suitable for more severe bedsores

The tube ripple mattress can support patients up to 120 kg and it is more for long-term usage for medium to higher risk assessment.

Exceeding the maximum weight capacity of the ripple mattress will reduce its efficiency of the ripple mattress in preventing bedsores.

A patient who exceeds the weight limit should be moved to an appropriate ripple mattress.
