It definitely protects surfaces from cutting marks
But it's not self-healing, and the markings lift with tape when you remove it. It's effectively a thin and flexible chopping board with measurement markings. You get what you're paying for. If you want better quality, you pay more (and check that it says self-healing!). Lesson learnt ????
