While making a cup of tea may sound like a small task, rituals like these can crescendo into a major lifestyle change. Taking the time to break for tea each day provides a few moments to reflect and get grounded. On days when we need to soothe and calm our mind, body and spirit, we like to enjoy our Lavender tea.

Lavender has a rich history of traditional use. These fragrant purple blooms originally come from the Mediterranean region and have been used for thousands of years by the ancient Greeks, Romans, Arabs and Egyptians. Coincidentally, it also was used by Egyptians to embalm the deceased. In the middle ages it was made into crosses and hung over doorways to ward off evil spirits, and it was one of the main ingredients in the Four Thieves Vinegar, a popular herbal preparation during the time of the plague. These days you can often see lavender used in aromatherapy to promote relaxation.

Lavender Lemonade is a fragrant, refreshing, and beautiful drink.  This Lavender Lemonade Recipe is the ultimate party drink to make for baby shower drinks, wedding showers, Summer BBQs, and more! Cheers to you and yours! This Purple Lemonade is such a pretty sip to bring to any party.

Ingredients:
 

• 6 cups water divided
• 3/4 cup sugar
• 3 Tbsp dried lavender flowers
• 1 cup lemon juice
• Lemon slices and / or lavender petals for garnish
• 2 drops Purple food coloring (optional, alternatively use 1/2 cup to 1 cup of 100 % blueberry juice)

Instructions

Over medium heat, combine two cups of water and sugar, bringing to a boil until sugar is dissolved. Turn off of the heat and stir in honey and lavender.

Allow mixture to steep for 2 hours (less if you want less of a lavender taste). Strain the liquid, pressing the lavender down to make sure you get all of those juices into your mixture!

In a large pitcher, combine freshly squeezed lemon juice, lavender mixture and water.

Feel free to add a couple drops of blue or purple food coloring if you want more color than the lavender provides. Makes the lemonade especially cute for those brunches! Serve over ice.
