Product details

Purple Tea delivers a new experience for tea enthusiasts boasting a brand-new flavor and color profile that demands its own category of tea. The reason we call it Purple Tea is because the Tea bush flushes Purple! Purple Tea is a leaf that is un-oxidized and slightly withered to create a smooth and natural taste. This anthocyanin-rich tea is grown at extremely high elevations of 6,000 plus feet in Kenya which results in strong antioxidant properties and a Purple hue when steeped. Anthocyanin is the same potent antioxidant that is found in blueberries and red grapes. Add a drop of lemon and watch the purple color intensify!

The wild Purple Plant was first discovered in the Gardens of Assam (India). The bush was given to The Tea Research Foundation of Kenyan (TRFK) who would go on to spend nearly 25 years studying the plant and creating a genetic clone of it. The TRFK was able to successfully develop this new Purple cultivar by naturally crossbreeding with tea’s anthocyanin rich cousin “Camellia Sinensis.” These Purple Tea seedlings were introduced to small-scale Kenyan Farmers in 2011. The Government encouraged the farmers to plant the bush in their farms and to improve the economy of Kenya.

Order for this Arkman Kenyan Purple Tea from Jumia Kenya and have it delivered straight to your doorstep.

  1. Measure between (2-10g) 1 teaspoon to 2 tablespoons of Purple tea into a tea pot.
  2. Add warm water less than 50 degrees to cover the tea leaves.
  3. After a few seconds pour out the water and add hot water into the teapot and let it stand for 30-60 seconds.
  4. The tea is now ready for drinking.
  5. Keep on adding hot water until the tea becomes tasteless.

You can generally reuse the leaves 2 or 3 times if you are using a large teapot and up to 5 times if you are using a smaller teapot.

Ø  Purple tea leaves are loaded with healthy antioxidants, flavonoids, and peptides which are a considerably promising natural remedy for a wide range of health issues. Extracts from this plant are also used in a number of herbal beauty products because of the effects of the flavonoids it contains, on the skin and hair.
